We are hiring for a Junior Welder / Fabricator role in Palmerston.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Junior Welder / Fabricator is an entry-level role designed for individuals beginning their career in metal fabrication and welding. Working under the supervision of experienced technicians, this position focuses on developing hands-on skills, learning industry standards, and supporting the fabrication and assembly of metal components. It’s an ideal opportunity for recent graduates or apprentices to gain practical experience in a shop or industrial setting.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Measure, cut, and prepare materials for fabrication
- Perform basic welding tasks (primarily MIG)
- Support assembly and fitting of metal components
- Use basic hand tools such as pry bars, pliers, vise grips
- Operate basic tools and equipment such as grinders, drills, and saws
- Operate lightweight workstation crane for material movement
- Inspect work with guidance to ensure it meets quality standards
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and wear proper PPE
- Work closely with senior technicians to improve skills and efficiency
- Very physically demanding, lifting 50+lbs rep
REQUIREMENTS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Reliability and punctuality
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- General mechanical inclination (previous farm or shop experience)
- Basic understanding of welding techniques (especially MIG)
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Willingness to learn blueprint reading and welding symbols
- Strong willingness to learn and take direction
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials
- Capable of handling physically demanding tasks
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Location: Palmerston, ON
Employment Type: Full-Time on-going with potential to be hired permanently
Shift: 7:30am-3pm Monday to Thursday
Hourly wage: $23.00/hr - $24.00/hr to start, Increase after 3 months and yearly increases after that
