Quality out-of-school care programs provide children with opportunities to learn, build confidence, develop friendships, and stay active in a safe environment. Through caring interactions and engaging experiences, Child Care Leaders help children develop important social, emotional, and physical skills.
As part of the YMCA team, you will contribute to the healthy development of children while supporting families and strengthening community connections.
Support the delivery of safe, engaging, and inclusive school age child care programs.
- Lead high-quality activities and program experiences that reflect YMCA values.
- Maintain safety and supervision standards in accordance with provincial licensing requirements.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Actively engage with children ages 5–12 as a play partner and role model.
- Support the implementation of play-based educational programming.
- Facilitate activities that promote literacy, mathematics, science, creative expression, physical activity, sports, and team building.
- Encourage participation, inclusion, and positive social development.
- Maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.
- Participate in YMCA community initiatives and events.
- Follow YMCA policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Minimum 19 years of age as required by provincial licensing standards, or possession of a provincial Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate.
- Minimum 20 hours of professional development related to children's health, nutrition, safety, development, and/or guidance (Responsible Adult qualification).
- Experience working with school-age children.
- Current First Aid Certificate with CPR Level B or C.
- Valid Class 4 Driver's Licence is considered an asset.

As part of a trusted charitable organization, successful candidates will be required to:
- Provide three professional references (e.g., employer, supervisor, or colleague).
- Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search issued within six months of the start date.
- Participate in required YMCA orientation, safety, and compliance training.
- Maintain required first aid certification throughout employment.
