Recovery Alberta is seeking a new member to join its innovative team. Reporting to the Manager, Virtual Addiction Medicine Services – Youth Virtual ODP, the successful incumbent will provide expert clinical leadership in designing and delivering education and training initiatives that enhance core clinical competencies within addiction medicine (substance use disorders, behavioral addictions, and comorbid psychiatric disorders) that are grounded in evidence informed practice and emerging research. This position requires a comprehensive knowledge base of principles of addiction medicine and evidence-informed practice standards for primary addiction and comorbid psychiatric disorders. The successful incumbent will hold specialized clinical knowledge and experience in psychosocial and pharmacological interventions with the ability to train an inter-professional workforce across multiple competency domains using instructional design methodologies. The successful candidate will be innovative with a strong aptitude for adult learning principles and strategic planning. A high standard of professionalism and initiative is required, with an ability to understand the clinical and system-level impact of the assigned deliverables. A solid performance history of excelling within an independently functioning, fast-paced, and high-performance team environment is essential. This position is provincial in scope, and occasional travel may be required. Key collaborators include leadership, subject matter and clinical experts in addiction medicine and psychiatry, clinical educators, and various interdisciplinary team members.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years clinical experience in addiction medicine (substance use, behavioral addiction, and comorbid psychiatric disorders). Advanced knowledge in suicide prevention and risk management; intoxication and withdrawal management; validated screening instruments, trauma-focused practice and frameworks guiding comprehensive assessment and treatment planning; DSM-5 diagnostic criteria; pharmacological interventions for treating substance use and psychiatric disorders. Minimum 3 years’ experience in teaching clinical skill development through various instructional design strategies. Knowledge of Recovery Alberta programs, policies and procedures. Excellent critical thinking and communication skills with a proven ability to work independently and cohesively as part of a virtual team. Accurate keyboarding skills of minimum 60 wpm. Proficient computer skills including SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Teams and PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing. Working knowledge of National and International evidence informed practice guidelines. Established experience in leading a variety of key collaborators to solve problems and innovate clinical services through education and training.
