De Vries Fine Woodworking Inc. is hiring an experienced Cabinetmaker for our custom woodworking shop in Port Alberni, BC. Established in 1998, we build custom cabinetry and architectural millwork for residential and commercial projects.
This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in quality workmanship, accurate details, and building from shop drawings. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
About the Role
We are looking for someone with strong cabinetmaking, joinery, and millwork experience. This is not an entry-level position and it is not flat-pack assembly.
You should be comfortable reading shop drawings, building custom cabinetry, working with a variety of materials, and solving practical shop-related details as they come up.
Responsibilities
- Build custom cabinetry and architectural millwork from shop drawings
- Read and interpret plans, layouts, details, and specifications
- Work with sheet goods, solid wood, veneers, laminates, hardware, and specialty materials
- Assemble cabinets, drawers, doors, panels, gables, fillers, and custom components
- Operate standard woodworking shop equipment safely and accurately
- Assist with installations when required
- Review drawings and raise questions before issues reach production or site
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area
- Communicate clearly with the team about materials, timelines, site details, and production concerns
- Take ownership of your work from start to finish
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of cabinetmaking, joinery, or architectural millwork experience required
- Strong ability to read and build from shop drawings
- Experience with custom cabinetry and millwork
- Installation experience is an asset
- Finishing experience is an asset
- CNC experience is an asset
- Strong attention to detail
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently
- Practical problem-solving skills
- Legally able to work in Canada
