Abrasive Blaster / Coater
Who We Are
Quantum Industrial Solutions (QIS) rehabilitates critical infrastructure using specialized industrial techniques. Our field crews work on structures where quality, precision, and safety are non-negotiable — and where the work has to perform for decades.
We are building out our field crew for an upcoming bridge repair and coating project in Quesnel, British Columbia. We are looking for experienced abrasive blasters and coating applicators who are ready to contribute to a high-performing crew from day one.
The Work
This is hands-on industrial field work on a civil infrastructure project. You will be part of a focused crew responsible for surface preparation and protective coating application on structural steel. The work is physical, detail-oriented, and carried out under strict quality and safety standards.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Operating blast pots and abrasive delivery systems to prepare structural steel to specified surface profile
- Applying protective coatings — primer, intermediate, and topcoat — using airless spray equipment and brush/roller methods
- Working within engineered containment and hoarding systems
- Monitoring and maintaining consistent blasting pressure, air quality, and coating film thickness (WFT/DFT)
- Following lead-safe work practices and containment protocols where lead abatement is required
- Supporting QA/QC checks, surface profile verification, and field documentation
- Equipment operation, care, and daily maintenance
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions on a rotational schedule
Who We Are Looking For
Our preference is for tradespeople who have put in real time in the field — people who understand jobsite culture, can operate independently, and know what it means to do quality work under pressure.
Experienced Candidates Will Have
- Proven experience as an abrasive blaster and/or industrial coatings applicator; bridge or structural steel experience an asset
- Familiarity with SSPC surface preparation standards and industrial coating application methods
- Comfort operating and maintaining field equipment — blast pots, airless spray rigs, compressors, and air dryer skid systems
- Solid understanding of jobsite safety practices, safe work plans, and hazard identification
- Experience working in demanding outdoor environments and on rotational schedules
- Tickets in fall protection, confined space, respiratory protection, or lead abatement awareness are required.
Non-Negotiable Traits — for Every Applicant
- Reliable and punctual — your crew depends on you
- Safety-minded with zero tolerance for shortcuts
- Accountable, honest, and respectful
- Coachable and willing to work within QIS systems and standards
- Strong work ethic and team-first attitude
