Job Description
Rileys is looking to hire a Courier Services/ Mailroom Associate for our Red Deer location.
The Opportunity
As a Courier Services / Mailroom Associate, you play a key role in ensuring the efficient flow of mail, packages, and official documents across Government of Alberta ministries and partner agencies. You support internal operations by providing timely delivery, secure handling, and accurate distribution of materials that keep government programs running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Mail Processing & Distribution
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail, parcels, and inter-office correspondence for assigned ministries
- Putting correct codes on Canada Post mail
- Separating courier mail from inter-department mail
- Coordinate daily mail runs and ensure timely delivery to designated drop‑off and pick‑up points
Courier & Delivery Services
- Operate company vehicle to transport mail, supplies, and documents between government buildings and external partners
- Follow established delivery routes and schedules while being on time per GPS tracking requirements
- Ensure secure handling of confidential or restricted materials in accordance with GOA information‑management policies
Mailroom Operations
- Sorting mail and delivery route locations
- Shipping coded mail and boxes via Loomis
- Assisting GOA employees with needs
Customer Service & Administrative Support
- Respond to inquiries from staff regarding mail status, delivery timelines, and courier procedures
- Provide guidance on mailing standards, cost‑effective shipping options, and internal delivery processes
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and maintaining delivery logs
Job Requirements
We are looking for candidates with the following:
· A Government of Alberta clearance and be bondable
· Be 25 years old or older with a class 5 license, not a graduated license
· Can provide a clear driver abstract
· Ability to lift 50 pounds
· Computer skills in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel and Word
· Able to read mail to sort and ship required totes and boxes
Additional requirements
· Cross -train with in the copy center including but not limited to; Printing of large and small format document, scanning, bindery, answering phone and emails, as well as copy center deliveries
Schedule:
· Monday to Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm including a half hour unpaid lunch
· Willing to work overtime as needed
