Position Summary
Youth HQ is seeking dedicated and compassionate Full-Time and Part-Time Youth Workers to join our 49th Street Youth Shelter Program. These positions work a 4-on, 4-off rotation of evening shifts and play a critical role in supporting the safety, well-being, and healthy development of youth accessing shelter services.
The successful candidates will provide direct support, mentorship, crisis intervention, and life skills development while fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate programs that support youth in building social, life, and employment skills.
- Provide positive role modeling, guidance, and mentorship to youth.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Conduct intake, assessment, and ongoing support planning for youth as required.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, community agencies, and other service providers to support positive outcomes for youth.
- Assist youth in identifying and achieving personal goals.
- Advocate for the rights, needs, and interests of youth within the community.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, reports, and case notes.
- Respond appropriately to crisis situations and behavioral challenges.
- Perform routine housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Assist with meal planning, food preparation, and kitchen clean-up.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining professionalism.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; preference will be given to candidates with a Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and Intervention Record Check.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to support youth from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Commitment to youth empowerment, advocacy, and community service.
