We are looking for someone who has strong knowledge of the local wedding industry, including wedding venues, caterers, photographers, florists, decorators, DJs, rental companies, transportation providers, and other event professionals throughout Metro Vancouver.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relations & Business Development
- Meet with clients to assess event objectives, requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Recommend event services and solutions based on client needs and available resources.
- Advise wedding clients on venues, floral arrangements, invitations, banquet facilities, transportation, and other wedding-related services.
- Identify and solicit prospective clients to support business growth.
Event Planning & Program Development
- Research, design, and develop event concepts, programs, and schedules.
- Plan conferences, meetings, weddings, and special events according to client requirements.
- Schedule events, activities, rehearsals, and planning milestones.
- Coordinate media services and event coverage when required.
Vendor, Venue & Contract Management
- Determine requirements for hospitality services, audiovisual equipment, signage, printing, transportation, and other event-related services.
- Source, negotiate, and manage contracts with venues, suppliers, and service providers.
- Maintain effective working relationships with venues and vendors throughout Greater Vancouver.
Event Logistics & Operations
- Coordinate all event logistics, including setup, staging, seating arrangements, parking, communication systems, food and beverage services, transportation, and guest services.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and operational requirements to ensure successful event delivery.
- Schedule and oversee rehearsals and event preparations.
- Ensure events are executed according to client expectations and organizational standards.
Team Coordination & Administration
- Prepare, present, and manage event budgets.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of event staff, contractors, and service providers.
- Assign responsibilities and coordinate work activities to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain accurate event documentation, schedules, and records.
Qualifications
Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Language requirement
English
Experience
- 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in event planning, wedding planning, hospitality, conference coordination, or a related field
Rate of Pay
- $38.00 per hour
- 37.5 hours per week
- $74,100 per year
