What You'll Do
As an Accounting Technician, you will work closely with the partners and accounting team to provide bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting support to a diverse range of clients. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records and delivering exceptional client service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients
- Processing payroll and preparing payroll remittances
- Preparing GST returns and maintaining CRA accounts
- Reconciling bank, credit card, and loan accounts
- Maintaining accurate client records and documentation
- Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures
- Communicating with clients regarding bookkeeping and payroll inquiries
- Supporting personal tax preparation as required
- Preparing T4s, T5s, and other information slips
- Using accounting software to maintain financial records and reports
- Assisting with administrative and special projects as required
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a public practice accounting firm
- Experience with bookkeeping and payroll processing
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, CaseWare, TaxCycle, or other tax and accounting software
- Experience preparing T4s, T5s, and year-end working papers
- Familiarity with personal and corporate income tax preparation
Compensation & Schedule
- Full-time position (44 hours per week)
- Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays during busy seasons
