Posting Overview:
The Lambton Kent District School Board, serves more than 21,000 students in 50 elementary and 12 secondary schools across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent.
Prospective qualified elementary and secondary teachers who meet the following criteria are encouraged to apply.
- must be able to teach French, Ojibwe, or Lenape language. Applicants without language qualifications will not be considered;
- must be available to start working immediately or once OCT application has been processed;
- must be available to work a minimum of 3-5 days/week;
- must be available to work 10 months of the school year;
- must be willing to travel throughout Chatham-Kent and/or Sarnia-Lambton;
- must be available to work on a daily occasional basis;
- must be available to work on a last-minute, call-in basis.
Prospective candidates currently enrolled in teachers college are encouraged to apply.
Successful applicants will be expected to commence employment immediately or once they become OCT qualified(for new graduates/current students).
Qualifications/Experience:
- Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification in the respective division and subject area;
- French qualifications are required;
- experience speaking the Ojibwe and/or Lenape language is required;
- additional qualifications are an asset;
- demonstrated knowledge of current Ontario curriculum and assessment, evaluation, and reporting practices;
- excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with students, parents and staff ;
- demonstrates positive interaction and collaboration as part of the school team;
- applies consistent and fair classroom management;
- experience working with youth in a variety of settings;
- experience working with diverse cultures including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit;
- ability to integrate technology into curriculum.
