● Develop and execute industrialization plans for agro-food and bio-based processing operations.
● Evaluate production processes, equipment requirements, plant capabilities, utilities, material flows, and manufacturing constraints.
● Coordinate pilot trials, demonstration runs, scale-up campaigns, and commercial production activities.
● Identify process bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase throughput, reliability, product consistency, and cost efficiency.
● Support process optimization, equipment selection, process layouts, production workflows, and manufacturing readiness.
● Develop and maintain process documentation, operating procedures, production specifications, and scale-up protocols.
Project Management
● Lead industrial and manufacturing projects from planning through execution, commissioning, and operational handover.
● Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, milestones, risk registers, and implementation plans.
● Coordinate internal technical teams, contractors, equipment vendors, suppliers, engineering consultants, and manufacturing partners.
● Monitor project timelines, costs, deliverables, and performance against agreed objectives.
● Identify project risks, technical challenges, and resource constraints and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
● Provide regular project updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
● Manage multiple industrialization and scale-up initiatives simultaneously.
Agro-Food Processing & Manufacturing
● Apply practical knowledge of agro-food processing, agricultural raw materials, oils and fats, extraction, refining, chemical or bio-based processing, and related industrial operations.
● Support the design and optimization of production processes involving agricultural and bio-based feedstocks.
● Work with processing facilities and manufacturing partners to assess plant capabilities and readiness for commercial production.
● Coordinate raw material sourcing requirements, production planning, storage, handling, and logistics associated with scale-up activities.
● Support equipment commissioning, process validation, troubleshooting, and production start-up activities.
● Ensure manufacturing processes are designed for repeatability, scalability, efficiency, and product quality.
Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
● Integrate quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements into industrialization and manufacturing projects.
● Support development of quality assurance and quality control procedures for commercial production.
● Coordinate process validation, analytical testing, and product performance verification.
● Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained for production, quality, traceability, and regulatory requirements.
● Work with manufacturing partners to ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Supplier & Manufacturing Partner Management
● Manage relationships with contract manufacturers, agro-processors, equipment suppliers, laboratories, engineering firms, and other technical service providers.
● Evaluate potential manufacturing and processing partners based on technical capability, capacity, quality, cost, and scalability.
● Coordinate technical information, production requirements, specifications, and project deliverables with external partners.
● Support procurement and technical evaluation of processing equipment and industrial services.
Qualifications
● Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Food Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
● 5+ years of relevant experience in industrialization, project management, manufacturing, or agro-food processing.
● Demonstrated experience taking processes from pilot or demonstration scale to commercial production.
● Strong understanding of industrial processing equipment, production systems, process optimization, and manufacturing operations.
● Experience within agro-food processing, vegetable oils, oilseed processing, food ingredients, bio-based materials, chemicals, or related process industries is strongly preferred.
● Demonstrated experience managing industrial projects involving multiple contractors, suppliers, technical teams, and external manufacturing partners.
● Strong project management capabilities, including scheduling, budgeting, risk management, procurement, and stakeholder coordination.
● Experience with equipment installation, commissioning, process validation, or production start-up is highly desirable.
● Knowledge of quality management, occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, and manufacturing standards.
● PMP, P.Eng., Lean Six Sigma, or related professional certification is considered an asset.
Ideal Candidate
