Toon Town Trivia is looking to hire an energetic, warm and engaging Trivia Host to lead fun and interactive trivia nights at various venues around Saskatoon.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a charismatic personality, the ability to multi-task & creatively problem solve along with a genuine passion for live entertainment in the community.
A Trivia Host creates fantastic vibes, facilitates the game with precision and ensures guests have a memorable experience week after week.
You'll be in charge of leading 6 Rounds of Toon Town Trivia's game within a 2-hour period of time, with your total working time not exceeding 3-hours from set up to packing up.
Paid training and coaching on how to successfully host will be provided. Therefore, having a genuine interest in improving your skills along with the ability to openly receive constructive criticism (without shutting down) are all key for taking one's hosting skills to the next level.
Regardless of your day job, the art of public speaking and clear communication is one of the most valuable skills you can develop for enhancing other areas of your life - both personally and professionally - in a positive way.
Must Haves
- Must have your own laptop with the ability to work with MS Office products as well as an app to play music throughout the game
- Venues are located in various areas around the city of Saskatoon and having reliable transportation is a must
- Present Toon Town Trivia's questions clearly and confidently to participants, maintaining an engaging tone and consistent energy throughout
- Facilitate the flow of the game including but not limited to: managing timing for each round, initiating tie-breakers, ensuring accurate scoring and announcing winners
- Light interaction with new and repeat teams in a friendly yet professional manner to maintain a welcoming environment
- Manage equipment such as microphones and Audio/Visual equipment in an organized manner
- Address any concerns or questions promptly and with confidence to ensure smooth gameplay
Past Experience
- Previous experience in any other live medium would be highly preferred: Karaoke Host, Trivia Host, Radio Host, Music DJ, MC, training, facilitation, improvisation, teaching, acting, leadership roles etc.
- Experience in public speaking will be a standout skill along with genuine enthusiasm, warmth/friendliness and confidence
- Strong communication skills: speaking clearly, loudly and with energy in order to interact and engage diverse audiences of all ages
- An ability to think quickly and adapt to unexpected situations while still maintaining a lively atmosphere, even when under pressure
- Must be comfortable using basic audio/visual equipment (to be provided) as well as managing game logistics (using simple spreadsheets, uploading used scoreboards, providing head counts etc.)
- Experience playing and a passion for trivia is a definite plus but not mandatory
- Professionalism, creativity, a positive attitude and the ability to follow instructions and integrate constructive criticism are necessary traits for the success of this position
This opportunity is perfect for individuals who enjoy social interaction, love facilitating experiences for others and want to bring IRL fun to our community! As it's a once a week commitment, with the potential to fill in at other venues on an as needed basis, this role is ideal for someone looking to supplement their income with a unique, fun and fulfilling p/t opportunity.
You must be consistently available for at least one day of the week on an ongoing basis as the game rarely pauses (but can, which means weekly hours are not guaranteed). The ability to commit and consistently show up week after week is of utmost importance for the overall success of the game.
Bonus points if you're able to be flexible in covering other days of the week at different venues on a fill-in basis (eg. other hosts on vacation, hosts calling in sick etc.)
If this all sounds like a match for your unique skillset, then please consider applying today and we look forward to hearing from you!
