Probationary/Continuous
Religious Education Coordinator
Evergreen Catholic Separate School Division invites applications for a full time teacher position to serve as the Religious Education Coordinator. The Religious Education Coordinator will travel, providing in-residence support to strengthen faith formation and instructional practice. This role will oversee, plan, and ensure the overall quality and consistency of faith integration for staff and students, as well as religious education curriculum and instructional programming across the division. This probationary position is a 1.0 FTE and will commence on August 26, 2026, for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Religious Education Coordinator will be a leader in the Evergreen Catholic School Division, and it is expected that the person in this position will follow the professional guidelines set forth by the division. The Religious Education Coordinator will provide leadership in the following areas:
Catholic Education Advocacy:

Serves as a key and lead functionary in executing the Catholicity–themed priorities of the Division, as determined by the Board and as operationalized by the Superintendent of Schools.

Support the consultation, development, and implementation of the Division Education Assurance Plan.

Support the division's faith priority and evaluate for effectiveness.

Support school administrative teams and school team leads through regular check-ins (minimum 3 per year) for effectiveness.

Serves as an active member of the Religious Education Network, sharing ideas and the development of resources with the network and Division schools.

Promotes interaction, together with the division chaplain, and initiates dialogue between the schools, parish, and family.

Work with and serve as a liaison for the Archdiocese of Edmonton and the Diocese of St. Paul, as well as the various parishes of Evergreen Catholic Schools.
Faith Formation and Permeation:
- Support the ongoing faith formation of leaders, staff, and students, overseeing the faith formation requirements of all staff moving to continuous status, in collaboration with Human Resource.

Develop and facilitate faith professional development activities and leadership capacity building of staff in collaboration with senior administration.

Lead the Catholic School Review Process, with support from school administration and senior leadership.

Plan, coordinate, and organize Faith Development Day annually.

Implement, and/or maintain staff formation programs including Formation of New Teachers (FONT) and EXCEL
-
Provide faith development opportunities and activities for staff and trustees.

Prepare and manage the faith department budget, Including Faith Development Day, Communities of Practice, and the acquisition of new curriculum resources.
Religious Curriculum and Instruction:

Plan, support, and monitor religious education curriculum implementation for student and staff success

Direct religious resources that support student initiatives in our schools, in collaboration with Learning Services, and within budgeting parameters

Lead and support professional development in the religious education curriculum, in collaboration with Learning Services

Develop planning initiatives to ensure success for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students in the area of faith.

Preference will be given to individuals who have completed a Master's in Religious Studies or who are currently enrolled in a Masters program.
