The Role
Keyin College is looking for a Dental Faculty Coordinator to lead and support the Level II Dental Assisting Program. This role is responsible for overseeing program delivery, fostering instructional excellence, and ensuring the curriculum continues to meet professional, regulatory, and industry standards. Working closely with instructors, students, and campus leadership, the Dental Faculty Coordinator will foster an engaging learning environment that promotes student success and prepares graduates for careers in dental assisting.
What You’ll Do
Program Oversight
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Dental Assisting program to ensure effective and efficient program delivery.
- Monitor program quality and ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation requirements, industry best practices, and applicable regulations.
- Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to review and update curriculum, ensuring course content reflects current practices and emerging trends in dental assisting.
- Contribute to accreditation processes and ensure ongoing compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Assess, coordinate, and maintain the equipment, laboratory, and instructional resources required to deliver high-quality hands-on learning experiences.
Faculty & Administrative Coordination
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and ongoing support to instructors within the Dental Assisting program.
- Coordinate course timetables, laboratory schedules, and operational planning to ensure effective program delivery.
- Organize and facilitate regular faculty meetings while promoting effective communication and collaboration among instructional staff.
- Ensure academic records, including attendance, grades, and course documentation, are completed accurately and maintained in a timely manner.
- Contribute to quality assurance initiatives, program evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts.
Student Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for students by responding to program-related questions and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
- Provide academic guidance and mentorship to promote student achievement, retention, and successful program completion.
- Work closely with Student Services and Academic Advisors to identify and respond to individual student needs.
- Prepare students for entry into the profession by reinforcing professional standards, workplace expectations, and professional conduct.
Clinical & Industry Engagement
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with dental clinics, employers, and industry stakeholders that enhance the Dental Assisting program.
- Coordinate clinical placements and other experiential learning opportunities that provide students with practical, hands-on experience.
- Collaborate with industry professionals to ensure the curriculum and student experience reflect current practices, emerging trends, and workforce needs.
- Foster opportunities for students to engage with the profession through guest speakers, networking events, industry presentations, and other career-focused activities.
Events & Program Engagement
- Plan and deliver student engagement initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and connected program community.
- Organize and facilitate industry-focused events, including guest speaker sessions, workshops, and professional development opportunities for students.
What You’ll Bring
- Valid license with the Newfoundland and Labrador Dental Board.
- Minimum of five years of combined education and/or professional experience in dental assisting or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting principles, clinical procedures, and professional standards of practice.
- Previous experience in a leadership, mentoring, or supervisory capacity is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- A collaborative, student-centred approach to teaching and learning.
- Prior teaching or instructional experience is considered an asset.
