The Opportunity
Join a collaborative team where you will take custom industrial wastewater treatment systems from concept through commissioning. This role blends hands-on mechanical design with direct client engagement and project ownership — ideal for an engineer who thrives on technical variety and accountability.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Engineering
- Develop, analyze, and implement design solutions for industrial wastewater treatment equipment and systems, driving projects from concept to production.
- Perform analytical calculations covering applied mechanics, material strength, fluid dynamics, and tolerances.
- Select, specify, and procure build components; ensure appropriate material selection throughout.
- Create SolidWorks CAD models, assemblies, parts, and drawing packages for internal use and subcontractors.
- Produce customer-approval drawing packages including dimensional, G.A.s, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.
- Author technical specification documents and maintain bill of materials, QA records, assembly records, manuals, and project files.
- Apply engineering techniques grounded in sound mechanical and scientific principles.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives; familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodology is an asset.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems.
Project Management
- Manage project schedules and budgets from award through delivery.
- Prepare detailed costing schedules and track project financials.
- Component selection, sourcing and procurement
- Communicate with sub-contractors providing necessary detail to ensure purchased components are completed on-time and to required specifications
- Liaise with clients and vendors throughout project lifecycle.
- Conduct pre-shipment equipment configuration and testing.
- Analyze client technical specifications and translate requirements into mechanical and process design solutions.
- Deliver project completion on-time and within budget
- Assist sales department with equipment recommendation, proposal and budget development

QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or P.Eng. designation in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in a related manufacturing environment; preference for experience with mechanical design, machine build, custom stainless steel sheet metal fabrication, and water/wastewater treatment preferred.
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks CAD — modelling, drawing, parts, assemblies, and simulations.
- Strong working knowledge of metal fabrication processes, sheet metal design, welding, machining, and standard GD&T.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Visio.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong analytical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills — able to convey technical information to clients, contractors, and field staff.
- Excellent documentation habits; ability to maintain organized, complete project files.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Self-directed and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative, client-focused mindset with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence; willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
