This is a hands-on, shop-floor focused QA/QC position supporting daily quality and food safety operations in a food manufacturing environment. You will report to the QA/QC Manager and work closely with production to ensure inspections, testing, documentation, and follow-ups are completed accurately and on time.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- QA or QC experience in a food manufacturing plant
- Ability to work primarily on the PM shift on an ongoing basis (this is a hiring requirement for this position).
- Ability to work a monthly rotating shift schedule (AM/PM) during the initial period of employment.
- English documentation required: able to create and maintain QA/QC records in English (logs, reports, inspection forms)
- Computer Skills (Required)
- Proficient with Windows and standard office tools (email, shared folders, Teams/Zoom)
- Able to manage digital records accurately (reports, logs, inspection forms)
- Excel skills (Required – detailed)
- Accurate data entry (inspection logs, check sheets, test results)
- Formatting and data handling (tables, filters, sorting, freeze panes, print settings)
- Basic formulas: SUM, AVERAGE, MIN/MAX, IF, COUNTIF/COUNTIFS, SUMIF/SUMIFS
- Create simple charts/graphs and summarize results
- (Prefered) Lookup and referencing: XLOOKUP (or VLOOKUP), and basic absolute references ($)
- (Preferred) PivotTables / basic data validation (drop-down lists)
Preferred (Assets)
- Experience supporting or working with SQF and/or FSSC 22000 (e.g., audits, corrective actions, document control)
- Experience related to microbiological testing (sampling and/or handling results)
- Knowledge of HACCP and GMP
Key Responsibilities (What you will do)
- Microbiological testing / bacteria inspection
- Factory inspections (GMP / sanitation / hygiene checks)
- Periodic correction, calibration, and verification of measuring tools (including records)
- Product control
- Support SQF / FSSC 22000 activities (documentation, audits, corrective actions as assigned)
- Cost calculation
- Recipe creation
- Small-lot prototype testing
- Other QA/QC-related duties as assigned
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Work is performed primarily in a food manufacturing environment
- Standing and walking on the production floor as required
- Entering refrigerated areas as needed
- Must follow hygiene and sanitation rules, including wearing required PPE (e.g., hairnet, gloves)
Shift Schedule
- For the initial period after hire (approximately 6 months as a guideline), you will work a monthly rotation between AM and PM shifts.
- After that, this position will be assigned primarily to the PM shift.
Note: This may be adjusted on an exceptional basis due to operational needs.
- AM Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (8 hours)
- 1–2 times per month: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (microbiological testing)
- PM Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM (8 hours)
- Monthly rotation applies during the initial period of employment.
