Position Overview
Skeena Spey Riverside Wilderness & Lodge is seeking a motivated and dependable Assistant Chef to join our hospitality team for the fishing season. Working closely with the Head Chef, the Assistant Chef will help prepare and present high-quality meals for lodge guests and staff while maintaining exceptional standards of food safety, cleanliness, and service. This position will especially involve the execution of breakfast and lunch preparation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced lodge environment, takes pride in creating memorable dining experiences, and appreciates the outdoors and wilderness setting of Northern British Columbia.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef with daily food preparation and meal service.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and packed lunches as required.
- Ensure meals are presented to a high standard and delivered on schedule.
- Assist with menu preparation and accommodate dietary restrictions and special requests.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Receive, store, and rotate food inventory using proper food handling procedures.
- Assist with inventory management and supply organization.
- Support dishwashing and kitchen cleaning duties as needed.
- Work collaboratively with lodge staff to provide an exceptional guest experience.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, lodge, resort, restaurant, or catering environment.
- Culinary training is an asset but not required.
- Food Safe certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
