Production Manager
Earthsmith Tile
Build something that doesn't exist anywhere else.
Most manufacturing jobs are about making more of the same thing.
This isn't one of them.
At Earthsmith Tile, we're building one of North America's most unique handmade tile companies. Every tile is designed, cut, pressed, glazed, and finished by hand. We're combining traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing to create products that architects, designers, and homeowners genuinely get excited about. While the world shifts to AI and robots, we're doubling down on artisanal craftsmanship.
We're looking for someone who loves making things, improving processes, solving mechanical problems, all while leading a small production team.
You don't need ceramics experience.
In fact, we'd almost prefer you didn't have it.
If you've spent years running a woodworking shop, fabrication shop, welding shop, cabinet shop, machine shop, or similar production environment, there's a good chance you'll be a great fit.
If you naturally walk into a shop and immediately start thinking about how to make it more efficient, cleaner, faster, or safer—you'll probably fit right in.
What You'll Do
You'll be responsible for leading daily production while working alongside the team on the shop floor.
This is a hands-on leadership role—not a desk job.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and supervise a production team of approximately five people
- Help build a positive, high-performance workshop culture
- Schedule and coordinate daily production activities
- Improve workflow and production efficiency
- Maintain quality standards throughout manufacturing
- Troubleshoot equipment and production issues
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs
- Help design and improve manufacturing systems and shop layout
- Train new team members
- Keep production organized, clean and safe
- And of course, work directly in production whenever needed
What We're Looking For
You're probably someone who:
- Has experience supervising people in a manufacturing or workshop environment
- Enjoys working with your hands as much as leading a team
- Is mechanically inclined and enjoys fixing things
- Can identify problems before they become expensive
- Takes pride in building efficient systems
- Is organized without becoming bureaucratic
- Communicates well and leads by example
- Enjoys variety—every day won't look exactly the same
- Can balance production deadlines with maintaining quality
Experience in woodworking, metal fabrication, welding, machining, cabinetmaking, manufacturing, automation, maintenance or industrial production would all be considered valuable.
Ceramics experience is not required. We'll teach you everything you need to know about making tile.
What Makes This Different
This isn't a giant corporation. You won't be managing dozens of people through spreadsheets and meetings and you'll have real influence over how our factory operates.
You'll help shape production systems, improve equipment, solve interesting manufacturing challenges, and play a major role in growing the company.
As we grow, you'll grow with us.
Compensation
- Competitive pay based on experience
- Opportunity to work as a subcontractor
- A creative, collaborative workplace where your ideas actually matter
If This Sounds Like You...
We'd love to hear your story. Tell us what you've been involved with, what you've built, what floats your boat, and what you've managed in the past.
Resumes are great—but we're equally interested in people who simply love making things work better.
Pay: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
