At Elk Ridge Modular, we build high-end modular homes and cabins under one roof in Coldstream, BC — 16,000 sq ft of clean, organized shop with room to move and room to grow.
Our buildings leave the shop anywhere from 90% to 100% complete, but a successful project still comes down to what happens in the field. Foundations, site construction, modular installation, finishing, and final turnover. That's where this role lives.
We're building multi-module, multi-storey projects headed for some of the coolest locations in BC. We're growing fast, the work keeps getting more interesting, and we're doing it with a team that gives a damn.

Who We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced Site Foreman / On-Site Lead Builder to take ownership of field construction and site execution for our projects.
This is not a role for someone who wants to supervise from the sidelines. We want a hands-on carpenter and leader who understands residential construction, thinks several steps ahead, works well with trades and subcontractors, and knows how to keep a project moving safely without sacrificing quality.
But the trade skill is only half of it. We can teach process and systems, and we'll invest in your development. What we're looking for is someone with the right attitude who wants to grow with us.

Depending on the project, you might be preparing a foundation for an incoming modular home one week and completing stairs, decks, exterior assemblies, and final turnover the next. When there's no site work on, you'll be back at the shop with the production team, building alongside them and planning the next round of site work.
If you can look at a set of drawings, understand what needs to happen next, organize the people and materials to make it happen, and then grab your tools and help execute it, you'll be a great fit here.
Travel — Read This Part
This role travels. Our projects are all over BC, and most site work involves overnight stays — anywhere from one or two nights to one or two weeks depending on the size of the build.
Accommodations and a meal per diem are covered for qualifying out-of-town work. But if being away from home regularly doesn't work for your life right now, this isn't the right role and we'd rather you know that up front.
You'll be running our site truck and a fully outfitted enclosed trailer — new tooling, everything you need to show up ready to work instead of scrambling for gear. It's a work rig for site work: it goes out with you on projects and lives at the shop the rest of the time.
What This Role Is Accountable For
- Professionally representing Elk Ridge Modular in all interactions with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, suppliers, municipalities, and business partners
- Leading day-to-day construction activities on Elk Ridge Modular project sites
- Completing and overseeing footing, foundation, basement, framing, structural, stair, and general carpentry scopes
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, engineering details, and site information before and during construction
- Laying out foundations, walls, openings, stairs, and structural components accurately
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, equipment, inspections, and site activities to maintain project schedules
- Working closely with Project Management and Operations to plan upcoming work, materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor needs
- Identifying potential construction conflicts or deficiencies early and communicating them before they impact cost or schedule
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship across all site construction
- Inspecting work completed by employees and subcontractors and identifying deficiencies requiring correction
- Supporting modular delivery, crane set, building placement, connection, and final installation
- Completing on-site carpentry, adjustments, repairs, deficiencies, and finishing work as required
- Coordinating and completing stair, landing, deck, blocking, framing, and exterior site-built components
- Maintaining a clean, organized, professional, and safe construction site
- Leading workers and subcontractors through clear expectations, priorities, and daily direction
- Mentoring developing carpenters and builders working alongside you
- Maintaining accurate daily progress reporting, site documentation, photographs, and Work in Progress updates
- Communicating successes, challenges, upcoming requirements, and schedule concerns to Project Management and Operations
- Helping improve our construction methods, site processes, sequencing, and systems
- Working in the shop with the production team when there is no active site work
- Assisting with service and warranty work when required
- Travelling to project sites throughout British Columbia and potentially Western Canada as required
- Looking after your weekly health, fitness, and mindfulness goals
- Any other duties requested by ERM Leadership
Health & Safety Responsibilities
As the person leading work on-site, safety leadership is a major part of this position. You'll be responsible for:
- Providing leadership and mentorship around safe construction practices
- Completing and participating in site-specific hazard assessments and safety planning
- Ensuring workers and subcontractors understand site hazards and expectations
- Maintaining awareness around excavation, concrete work, fall protection, scaffolding, cranes, telehandlers, forklifts, and other construction equipment
- Ensuring required PPE and safety systems are being used
- Complying with WorkSafeBC requirements and our Occupational Health & Safety Program
- Maintaining required safety documentation
- Identifying and reporting unsafe conditions immediately
- Reporting incidents, injuries, and near misses per company and WorkSafeBC requirements
- Helping continuously improve our safety systems through practical field experience
Experience & Traits Needed
- 7+ years of residential or commercial construction experience
- Significant hands-on carpentry experience
- Strong experience with footings, foundations, basements, and concrete construction
- Strong wood-frame construction experience
- Experience laying out and installing stairs
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and construction drawings
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing
- Previous experience leading workers, crews, subcontractors, or construction sites
- Ability to plan work several steps ahead and identify what will be required next
- Strong practical problem-solving ability
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with trades, management, inspectors, and clients
- High attention to detail and strong quality standards
- Ability to work independently without needing constant direction
- Comfortable making appropriate field decisions within established project scope
- Willingness to get on the tools and work alongside the team
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight for projects
- A good sense of humour. Construction supplies enough nonsense on its own.
Strongly Preferred
- Red Seal Carpenter certification
- Previous Site Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or Superintendent experience
- Experience building complete homes from foundation through finishing
- Experience working with concrete formwork and foundations
- Experience coordinating building inspections
- Understanding of the BC Building Code
- First Aid certification
Additional Assets
Experience in any of the following would be a significant asset:
- Interior finishing and finish carpentry, doors, trim, flooring, pine tongue & groove
- Decks and exterior structures
- Window and exterior door installation
- Building envelope systems, rainscreen, exterior flashing and waterproofing
- Metal siding, wall panel systems, and metal roofing
- Modular or prefabricated construction, installation, and connection
- Crane-day coordination
- Telehandler or forklift operation
- Excavation, civil construction, and heavy equipment operation
We aren't expecting one person to be the world's greatest concrete finisher, framer, stair builder, metal installer, and finish carpenter. We are looking for someone with enough complete-building experience to understand how all of those scopes connect, and enough leadership ability to make sure they come together properly.

Compensation
- $42–$52/hour depending on experience, qualifications, certifications, and demonstrated ability

- 10-hour shifts may be required, with overtime as project schedules demand

Training & Growth
