Job Summary
Interior Geoscience Inc. (IGI) is a small hydrogeology consulting firm based in Vernon, BC, providing groundwater, water supply, and environmental consulting services throughout British Columbia. Our work includes groundwater investigations, pumping tests, hydrogeological assessments, water quality evaluations, source water protection, and environmental permitting.
We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Junior Environmental/Hydrogeology Consultant on a part-time basis. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem solving, scientific writing, data analysis, and working both in the office and in the field.
This is an opportunity to learn directly from an experienced hydrogeologist while gaining hands-on consulting experience. The successful candidate will work on assigned technical tasks and gradually take on more responsibility as their experience grows.
Duties
Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with the preparation of hydrogeological and environmental reports
- Conducting background research using provincial databases, mapping resources, and scientific literature
- Organizing and reviewing technical data
- Preparing tables, figures, maps, and appendices
- Assisting with groundwater monitoring, pumping tests, and field investigations
- Processing field data and maintaining project databases
- Assisting with groundwater licensing and regulatory applications
- Preparing project documentation and technical correspondence
- Supporting senior consultants with a variety of technical assignments
- Completing other technical tasks as assigned
Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Ability to learn new technical software and procedures
- Ability to work independently after receiving direction
Preference will be given to applicants with education or experience in Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Geography, GIS, Engineering Technology, Biology, Forestry, or related disciplines.
Experience with GIS, groundwater, environmental consulting, surveying, construction, or natural resources is considered an asset but is not required.
