The TyreSense Systems Validation & QA Lead is accountable for establishing, leading, and maintaining end-to-end validation, verification, and quality assurance across the TyreSense product environment, with particular emphasis on ensuring alignment between software, firmware, hardware, and operational configuration changes. This role ensures that updates, releases, defect corrections, configuration changes, and new product revisions are assessed through disciplined, traceable, and repeatable validation processes prior to operational deployment, thereby supporting product stability, serviceability, and readiness for customer use.
The position serves as an independent technical quality and assurance function across software development, firmware, research and development, manufacturing, support, and field feedback activities. Working in close collaboration with cross-functional teams in Victoria and throughout the broader TyreSense operation, the role is responsible for validating system compatibility, reducing escaped defects, improving release readiness, and strengthening confidence that product changes are appropriately verified before being introduced into customer-facing or operational environments.
Key Accountabilities
Systems Validation Strategy & Test Governance
-
Own the practical validation approach for TyreSense software, firmware, hardware, and system interactions across development, test, production, and field-support scenarios.
-
Define and maintain validation scope, test coverage expectations, entry and exit criteria, and release-readiness discipline for changes affecting TyreSense products or platforms.
-
Develop fit-for-purpose validation plans, test cases, traceability methods, and evidence records for major changes, releases, fixes, and product revisions.
-
Ensure validation activity reflects real operational conditions, known support pain points, compatibility risks, and likely field-use scenarios rather than only ideal test conditions.
Hardware, Firmware & Software Compatibility Assurance
-
Validate that software updates, firmware updates, hardware revisions, configuration changes, and integrated system behavior remain compatible across supported TyreSense environments.
-
Work across TS3, TS4, related services, and hardware test scenarios to confirm that changes do not create regressions, instability, or unintended downstream impacts.
-
Review how product, firmware, and software changes interact with existing customer environments, branch support expectations, and field installation realities.
-
Support structured verification of interfaces between hardware, firmware, applications, services, databases, and operational workflows where failures can cross functional boundaries.
Release Readiness, Regression & Change Validation
-
Coordinate pre-release and post-change validation for new versions, fixes, patches, and product changes before deployment to production or customer-facing environments.
-
Ensure regression testing is completed where changes may impact existing product behavior, customer sites, reporting, diagnostics, integrations, or service workflows.
-
Challenge assumptions around release readiness by ensuring validation is supported by objective evidence, documented outcomes, and clear open-issue visibility.
-
Partner with development, firmware, and operational stakeholders to improve quality gates, deployment confidence, rollback preparedness, and change discipline.
Defect Triage, Root Cause Support & Corrective Action
-
Own or coordinate structured investigation of cross-functional defects involving software, firmware, hardware, configuration, or process interactions.
-
Reproduce issues where possible, isolate likely failure points, and support root cause analysis with relevant technical evidence, test outcomes, and observed system behavior.
-
Help distinguish whether failures are related to software logic, firmware behavior, hardware condition, data integrity, infrastructure, deployment practice, or field-use conditions.
-
Work with responsible teams to validate corrective actions and confirm that fixes resolve the issue without creating new defects elsewhere in the TyreSense environment.
Test Environment, Tooling & Automation Support
-
Support the development and maintenance of practical test environments, validation datasets, hardware test setups, and repeatable validation workflows needed to assess TyreSense changes properly.
-
Use technical tools and programming or scripting capability where needed to support test execution, data review, automation, diagnostics, and validation efficiency.
-
Promote stronger use of version-aware testing, repeatable evidence capture, and scalable validation practices that reduce reliance on ad hoc manual checking.
-
Recommend improvements to validation tooling, automation, test coverage, and reporting discipline as the TyreSense environment continues to mature.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Technical Challenge Function
-
Work closely with software development, firmware, R&D, manufacturing, IT support, field support, and product stakeholders to challenge changes before release and ensure the product works as a complete system.
-
Provide independent validation perspective across teams by raising risks, gaps, edge cases, compatibility concerns, and unresolved quality issues early and clearly.
-
Translate technical findings into clear operational impact so release decisions are made with realistic visibility of customer, support, and production consequences.
-
Support alignment between Victoria-based product teams and wider TyreSense operations where issue ownership, validation evidence, or release communication must cross branch or functional boundaries.
Documentation, Standards & Continuous Improvement
-
Document validation outcomes, test evidence, known limitations, repeat issues, and release risks in a controlled and traceable manner.
-
Help establish practical standards for validation, compatibility testing, defect reporting, release signoff, and post-change review across TyreSense.
-
Identify recurring quality gaps across product design, software changes, firmware deployment, support handoffs, or manufacturing interfaces, then drive practical improvements.
-
Support creation and maintenance of work instructions, test protocols, validation checklists, and lessons-learned practices that strengthen quality discipline over time.
Operational Support & Customer-Facing Risk Reduction
-
Use support trends, field feedback, and recurring incidents to prioritize validation focus on the areas most likely to affect customer stability, uptime, reporting accuracy, and confidence in the product.
-
Partner with support and operational teams to improve issue reproduction, fix verification, and closure discipline for customer-impacting defects.
-
Help reduce dependence on informal knowledge by improving test clarity, evidence quality, and shared understanding of what has actually been validated before release or deployment.
Role Scope Clarification
-
This role is focused on systems validation, quality assurance, verification, change confidence, and product challenge across TyreSense software, firmware, hardware, and integrated operating conditions.
-
This is not intended to replace the accountable ownership of software development, firmware development, R&D, manufacturing, or frontline support; it is intended to strengthen them through independent validation and structured quality discipline.
-
The role is expected to be hands-on and technical, with enough programming and systems understanding to review behavior, assess defects, support automation, and challenge whether proposed fixes are actually proven.
-
The role is based in Victoria to work closely with the core software, firmware, and hardware teams, with cross-branch coordination as required.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Post-secondary education in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, quality assurance, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
-
Experience in software QA, systems validation, firmware validation, embedded systems testing, hardware/software integration testing, or a similar role in a technical product environment.
-
Demonstrated ability to validate product behavior across software, firmware, hardware, and operational workflows rather than only isolated code or only physical product checks.
-
Strong understanding of test planning, regression testing, verification, validation, defect isolation, root cause support, and release-readiness discipline.
-
Technical ability to read, assess, and work with code, logs, data, and system behavior; programming or scripting capability is required to support test execution, investigation, or automation.
-
Experience working with technical stacks, versioned releases, issue tracking, and controlled change environments across development and operational teams.
-
Practical communication skills with the ability to challenge technical decisions, explain quality risks clearly, and work constructively across software, firmware, R&D, manufacturing, support, and management groups.
-
Experience in Microsoft-based and technical environments such as SQL-backed applications, desktop or web applications, device-connected systems, or embedded product environments is preferred.
-
Exposure to structured test automation, version control, CI/CD, or lab-based validation practices is an advantage.
-
Experience supporting mining, industrial, telemetry, or ruggedized product environments is beneficial but not required.
