Job Summary: The Safety & Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and training initiatives for highway coach drivers. This role ensures that all safety and compliance standards are met and maintained, minimizing risk and enhancing operational safety within the organization. The Manager will work closely with drivers, maintenance teams, and operations departments to ensure adherence to all regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Program Development and Management:
- Develop, implement, and manage safety protocols and procedures for all highway coach operations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and inspections of coaches to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Review and analyze accident and incident reports to identify trends and recommend preventive measures.
Training and Development:
- Create and facilitate comprehensive training programs for highway coach drivers, including initial and ongoing training sessions.
- Ensure training materials cover regulatory compliance, defensive driving techniques, emergency procedures, customer service, and other key areas.
- Conduct hands-on driver training, simulations, and workshops to reinforce safety principles and correct practices.
- Track driver performance and implement corrective actions or additional training as necessary.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain a thorough understanding of government regulations as they relate to highway coach operations.
- Ensure company policies and training programs reflect current laws and standards.
Incident Response and Reporting:
- Investigate all accidents, incidents, and safety-related complaints, working to determine root causes and prevent recurrences.
- Prepare detailed reports on accidents, safety concerns, and risk factors for management review.
- Coordinate with insurance and legal teams in claims processes, providing accurate information and documentation.
Driver Communication and Support:
- Serve as a resource for drivers, addressing safety concerns, questions, and feedback on a continual basis.
- Develop and promote a safety culture, encouraging driver input on safety improvements.
- Conduct regular meetings and debriefs with drivers to discuss safety updates, policies, and improvements.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Collect and analyze data related to safety performance metrics, driver compliance, and training effectiveness.
- Use data insights to continuously improve safety and training protocols.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with the fleet maintenance team to ensure vehicle safety and readiness.
- Liaise with Operations to track driver credentials, certifications, and training records.
- Partner with other departments to ensure a unified approach to safety across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation safety, preferably within highway coach or bus operations.
- BZ Driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
- Knowledge of US and Canadian regulations, and other safety standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience in training and team coordination.
- Analytical skills for assessing risks and determining training needs.
- Proficiency with safety and compliance software is a plus.

This role requires someone who is organized, proactive, and committed to upholding the highest safety standards in highway transportation. The Safety & Training Manager plays a key role in ensuring the safety of passengers, drivers, and the public while supporting the company's mission of providing safe and reliable transportation services.
Pay: $62,500.00-$67,500.00 per year
