The Opportunity
Reporting to the Operations and Business Development Manager, this role will oversee a single location of Davina’s Swim House. In this role you will be working closely with our aquatic and customer service teams, leadership, and clients to create a safe and engaging experience for all. You’ll be at the forefront of overseeing swim programs, mentoring staff, facility maintenance, ensuring client and staff satisfaction, smooth daily operations, and promoting our services in the community.
This role combines management, sales, and customer service responsibilities to help us make a splash in the world.

Responsibilities

Financial and Administrative:
-
Accurately enter payroll hours into our pay system and update as shift times change

Monitor the facility’s budget and payroll activity
-
Evaluate staffing levels and shift capacity, making shift cuts and staffing adjustments as needed to adhere to budget and facility needs

Manage the scheduling of classes, instructors, and supervisors to ensure proper coverage
-
Maintain accurate records of class enrollments, attendance, and progress
-
Lead preparation and execution of team events, special programs, and training

Ensure staff qualifications are up-to-date and current

Help monitor session stats like retention, fill rates, and customer satisfaction
-
Track, monitor, order, and replenish inventory levels of all necessary supplies (pool, safety, cleaning, office)

Deliver a Great Client Experience:

Be present and approachable on deck; answering questions, addressing complaints, chatting with parents, and resolving concerns with empathy and professionalism
-
Foster positive relationships with swimmers and parents to create a welcoming and supportive atmosphere

Help families feel confident about their swim journey and drive client registration through facility tours, assessments, and program recommendations

Monitor feedback and reviews to continuously improve the experience

Support front desk operations with inquiries, billing follow-up, and registration; not just assisting but helping drive conversions

Manage Programs & Sessions:
-
Quality control throughout the lessons and ensure that the DSH program is being taught and adhered to, as well as the high level of instruction is maintained

Ensure all programs meet DSH’s quality and safety standards, feel fun, organized, and family-friendly
-
Build and update facility schedules to maximize pool time and class availability
-
Assign instructors to classes, support smooth deck setup/takedown, and ensure session readiness (progress reports, deck sheets)

Support teaching and instructional leadership on deck or in-water, including leading or assisting with class demos, daytime teaching, and specific enrollment parameters
-
Organize and deliver regular training sessions for staff members to enhance their skills, knowledge and certifications

Manage all staff schedules and proactively solve any scheduling challenges

Manage adherence to Lifesaving Society standards in leadership course, and schedule all leadership courses
-
Lead, mentor, and train a team of Deck Leads, Head Instructors, Instructors, and SCT’s
-
Foster a positive, respectful, and supportive team culture by being the go-to person, offering guidance, mentorship, and ongoing training
-
Create space for feedback and growth by conducting and tracking ongoing performance evaluations and performance improvement plans
-
Recognize and celebrate your team; Mid-session treats, end-of-session pizzas, and little gestures that go a long way
-
Anticipate hiring needs and support recruitment, onboarding, and training of staff
-
Ensure smooth team processes like payroll submissions, onboarding, and offboarding
-
Communicate openly and regularly with the team through staff meetings and sharing updates
-
Lead Facility Operations:
-
Keep the facility clean, safe, functional, and ready for fun; from pool equipment and maintenance to birthday walls and themed decorations
-
Confirm everything runs smoothly behind the scenes; from logbooks to session transitions and supply orders
-
Ensure safety protocols meet pool/health regulations and equipment is stocked, maintained, and up to standard
-
Oversee daily maintenance tasks, safety equipment checks, and facility inspections and coordinate with external vendors for repairs, pest control, and mechanical needs

Ensure proper record keeping of all logbooks, cleaning checklists, and supply orders
-
Be accountable for managing emergencies by ensuring the emergency response plan is aligned with industry best practices, conducting safety checks and drills, and staying up to date on certifications, regulations, and best practices in aquatic safety
Qualifications

Holds current certifications in National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid, and Certified Pool Operator
-
Prior experience in aquatic instruction, with a minimum of 5 years as an instructor or supervisor

Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a team
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Detail oriented with excellent time management

Friendly, approachable, and confident working in a family-centered environment
-
Acceptable police check for vulnerable sector
-
Knowledge of pool operations and safety procedures
-
Available for weekends and evenings
