Dorner Contracting is looking for an experienced Construction Operations Manager to lead our day to day field operations and become a key leader within our growing company.

This is not an entry level management position, and it is not a role for someone whose experience has been primarily behind a desk. We're looking for a construction professional who understands how projects are built and can confidently lead crews, solve problems, and ensure every project is completed to a high standard.

This position is designed to take ownership of the owner's day to day operational responsibilities, allowing the company to continue growing while maintaining the quality and reputation we've built.

About the Role

This is a hybrid leadership position that combines field supervision with office based operations management.

Your time will be split between visiting active job sites, supporting crews in the field, and working from our office to coordinate projects, schedules, materials, equipment, and daily operations.

You will become the primary point of contact for field issues while ensuring projects are planned, organized, and executed efficiently. You'll be trusted to make decisions, solve problems, and keep projects moving without constant oversight.

You'll work closely with our Administrative Coordinator, who will support the day to day administrative functions of the business. This allows you to focus on leading operations, managing projects, supporting field crews, and delivering successful projects.

This role is intended to become the operational leader of the company, working directly alongside the owner to help drive Dorner Contracting forward.

What You'll Do

Visit and oversee multiple active job sites
Lead, mentor, and support field crews
Ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and company standards
Perform site layout and verify measurements before construction begins
Coordinate daily crew schedules and project priorities
Plan upcoming work and ensure materials, equipment, and labour are available
Identify and resolve issues before they impact project timelines
Maintain communication with clients, suppliers, and the owner
Complete project documentation and reporting
Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and with exceptional quality

Municipal playground installations
Parks and recreation projects
Shade structures
Site furnishings

Commercial site improvements

Who We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

A strong background in construction
Experience leading crews or managing construction projects
The ability to read and interpret construction drawings
Experience performing site layout
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities
The confidence to work independently and take ownership
Strong communication and leadership skills
A valid driver's licence

Compensation

This position offers a competitive base salary between $70,000 and $85,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

In addition, compensation will include a performance based incentive tied directly to the success and growth of the company. As Dorner Contracting grows, your earning potential grows with it.
