We are seeking a dedicated Adult Protective Service Worker to join our team. If you’re passionate about helping others and thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment, we invite you to bring your skills to a team that values innovation, compassion, and community impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Accepting requests for service from Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) and conducting assessments of individuals to determine goals and maintain independent living.
- Working in collaboration with other community services to identify needs of those receiving support and making appropriate referrals while following the principle of individual’s right to self-determination.
- Meeting and working with individuals regularly to realize established goals and monitoring these goals on an ongoing basis.
- Working with individuals to assist them in acquiring the skills and resources necessary to live independently in the community.
- Maintaining accurate and complete client records and following agency’s policy on timely documentation for the production of required statistics on a monthly basis.
- The APSW may advocate along with, or on behalf of people whose rights to services, or opportunities may actually or potentially be comprised. This includes advising people of their choices and/or rights and responsibilities and/or potential consequences.
- The APSW may provide assistance in searching for housing and planning to relocate.
- Assisting individuals with navigating bureaucratic procedures that can be confusing and overwhelming, connecting to various services, and dealing with the judicial system (i.e., getting legal aid/lawyer, going to court, involving police, etc.).
- Other kinds of personal support as required.
What You Bring
- University Degree or College Diploma (Bachelor of Social Work is preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of developmental services
(experience working with adults with disabilities is an asset)
- Demonstrated knowledge of community support services, social service systems, and relevant provincial legislation.
- Excellent assessment, critical thinking, communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing program needs.
- Strong documentation and computer skills, including experience maintaining electronic client records.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of valid automobile insurance with coverage meeting Ontario's minimum legal requirements.
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset.

Profil recherché :
Diplôme universitaire ou diplôme d’études collégiales
(une licence en travail social est préférable).
Au moins cinq ans d’expérience dans le domaine des
services d’accompagnement au développement (une
expérience auprès d’adultes en situation de handicap
est un atout).
Permis de conduire valide, assurance et utilisation de
votre propre véhicule obligatoires.
Une formation aux premiers secours est un atout.
Vos missions
Recevoir les demandes d’intervention émanant des services de développement de
l’Ontario et réaliser des évaluations des personnes concernées afin de définir des
objectifs et de favoriser leur autonomie.
Travailler en collaboration avec d’autres services communautaires afin d’identifier les
besoins des personnes bénéficiant d’un accompagnement et de les orienter vers les
services appropriés, tout en respectant le principe du droit à l’autodétermination de
chacun.
Rencontrer et travailler régulièrement avec les personnes afin d’atteindre les objectifs
fixés et d’assurer un suivi continu de ces derniers.
Travailler avec les personnes afin de les aider à acquérir les compétences et les
ressources nécessaires pour vivre de manière autonome au sein de la communauté.
Tenir à jour des dossiers clients précis et complets et respecter la politique de
l’organisme en matière de documentation dans les délais impartis, afin de produire
chaque mois les statistiques requises.
L’APSW peut défendre, aux côtés ou au nom des personnes dont les droits à des
services ou à des opportunités sont ou pourraient être compromis. Cela implique
notamment d’informer ces personnes de leurs choix, de leurs droits et responsabilités,
ainsi que des conséquences potentielles.
L'APSW peut apporter son assistance dans la recherche d'un logement et l'organisation
d'un déménagement.
Aider les personnes à appréhender les démarches administratives, parfois complexes et
décourageantes, à entrer en contact avec divers services et à faire face au système
judiciaire (par exemple : obtenir une aide juridique ou les services d'un avocat, se
présenter au tribunal, faire appel à la police, etc.).
Autres formes de soutien personnel, selon les besoins.
