Our Customer Care team serves as the first point of contact for our clients. For many, this will be their first experience with Johnston Group, and our goal is to consistently exceed expectations by delivering industry-leading customer service.
This is a casual position, offering flexible, as-needed hours while providing the opportunity to gain experience across both Customer Care and Claims operations.
In this role, you will respond to customer inquiries related to benefits plans, coverage, eligibility, and claims through phone, email, and chat. In addition to supporting our customers, you will assist the Claims team by reviewing and processing dental and health care claims, applying plan provisions, and ensuring accurate and timely adjudication.
You will also be responsible for staying up to date on procedures and policy changes, maintaining strict adherence to privacy and compliance standards, participating in ongoing training, and identifying and reporting potential fraud to the Audit team.
Additional Details:
- Remote position (hardware provided).
- Customizable schedule: work between 6 and 35 hours per week (after completing training).
- Flexible training options: minimum 4 hours a day, 3 days per week
- Must be available for comprehensive training in Winnipeg (weekdays, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.)
Eligibility:
To be eligible for this part-time casual arrangement you must be:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Living in Winnipeg or surrounding area for the full duration of your work term.
Qualifications (Customer Service Focus with Claims Attributes):
- Proven customer service skills with a commitment to empathetic, solutions-focused support (contact centre experience is an asset).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and professionally.
- Strong active listening, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills to resolve inquiries efficiently.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to follow policies, procedures, and plan provisions when processing claims.
- Ability to review claim documentation and make sound decisions within established authority and service standards (claim examiner/adjudication experience is an asset).
- Comfortable navigating multiple systems while communicating with customers (phone, email, and chat) in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and stay organized while working independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and privacy requirements; able to identify and escalate potential fraud/abuse concerns appropriately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Previous customer service experience (inbound contact centre, retail, or hospitality) is considered an asset.
- Bilingual French is considered an asset.
