About Fusion Cabling
Fusion Cabling Inc. is a Manitoba-based structured cabling, telecommunications and low-voltage contractor serving commercial clients throughout Winnipeg and rural Manitoba.
Our work includes new installations, renovations, equipment deployments, troubleshooting, service calls and ongoing maintenance. We install, terminate, test and certify copper and fibre cabling, as well as install, repair and service the devices connected to that infrastructure, including card access systems, wireless equipment, security cameras and related low-voltage systems. A significant portion of our work involves responding to service requests, diagnosing issues in existing systems and restoring proper operation.
We are looking for a capable field technician who takes pride in clean installations, organized racks, properly terminated cable and solving problems correctly the first time.
This is a hands-on field position, not an IT help-desk or network-administration role.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Installing Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fibre, coax and other low-voltage cabling in commercial environments
- Pulling, supporting, labelling, dressing and terminating cable neatly and to specification
- Installing J-hooks, cable tray, conduit, surface raceway and other pathways
- Building, dressing, patching and modifying telecommunications racks, cabinets, IDFs and MDFs
- Testing, troubleshooting and certifying copper and fibre cabling
- Mounting, wiring and servicing wireless access points, IP and analog cameras, access-control devices, displays, speakers, microphones and wireless bridge equipment
- Connecting devices to cabling, power supplies, controllers, switches and other equipment
- Responding to commercial service calls and diagnosing cabling, power, hardware and connectivity faults
- Tracing undocumented cabling and repairing damaged or incorrectly terminated infrastructure
- Replacing failed devices, connectors, jacks, patch panels and related components
- Reading drawings, floor plans and scopes of work
- Documenting completed work, test results, deficiencies and recommended follow-up
- Working independently on service calls and as part of a crew on larger projects
- Coordinating with customers, project managers and other trades
What We’re Looking For
You do not need experience with every system we install. Strong structured-cabling fundamentals, mechanical ability, troubleshooting skills and pride in your work matter most.
Required
- Hands-on experience installing commercial structured cabling or comparable low-voltage systems
- Ability to pull, route, dress and terminate Cat6 cabling
- Experience mounting, connecting or servicing field devices—not only cable rough-in
- Ability to troubleshoot problems methodically
- Familiarity with patch panels, racks, jacks and telecommunications rooms
- Ability to use common hand tools, power tools, ladders and cable-testing equipment
- Ability to read basic drawings, labels and cable schedules
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Ability to accurately distinguish cable and conductor colour codes
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work safely from ladders or lifts
- Professional communication and a dependable work ethic
Preferred
- Two or more years of commercial structured-cabling or low-voltage field experience
- Cat6A termination and certification experience
- Fibre installation, termination, splicing or testing experience
- Experience with IP cameras, wireless access points, access control, AV or wireless radios
- Fall protection, working-at-heights or aerial-lift certification
Equivalent telecommunications, electrical, security, AV or field-service experience will also be considered when accompanied by strong cabling and troubleshooting fundamentals.
Successful candidates may be required to provide a satisfactory driver’s abstract and criminal-record check based on project or customer requirements.

Schedule
Typical hours are Monday to Friday, approximately 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Some projects require occasional evening, overnight, weekend or out-of-town work. Advance notice is provided whenever reasonably possible.
