The Position:

The Communications Manager position is critically important to CRTO because you will be key person ensuring that the Right message is being relayed to members and to the government. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of CRTO’s internal and external communications website development, community engagement, and digital media. The Communications Manager will lead dynamic and bold campaigns that elevate the understanding and appreciation our regulatory college.

The position package includes:

87k to 105k depending on experience

Your Responsibilities:

Website Management

Working with CRTO consultants and staff to coordinate new website development ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
Liaising effectively and efficiently with staff to ensure a clear understanding of departmental website requirements and communicating these needs to consultants
Monitoring, posting and updating all CRTO website content, ensuring the information is current and accurate
Coordinating website upgrades and maintenance, identifying areas for improvement
Responding to and troubleshooting website issues

Communications

Working with the team to develop and implement communications strategies that promote the organization’s mandate, membership programs, and projects
Discovering new and innovative ways to enhance and expand the organization’s social media presence and outreach to various stakeholders
Managing and supporting the development of all print and electronic materials (e.g., the CRTO’s Annual Report, practice guidelines, website content, etc.)
Drafts communications content and materials with support from content contributors/subject matter experts as needed
Ensures messaging is accurate, consistent with corporate values and the strategic plan, and complies with CRTO brand standards
Implements a communications and marketing plan that will help advance the awareness and image of CRTO to the public, businesses, governments, media, and stakeholders
Responsible for ensuring the professional appearance of all College materials developing a consistent organizational “brand” and applying it to all communications, including presentations to Council, Committees, or external parties
Provides communication support including speech writing, creating presentations, press releases, backgrounders, advisories, and opinion pieces
Coordinates all CRTO’s electronic communications including monthly e-blasts and election notices
Managing the distribution of communications materials to CRTO Members and other system partners using mail, email, social media
Monitoring and reporting on communications metrics
Assisting with the preparation and posting of Council and Committee meeting materials
Posting and managing stakeholder consultations
Implementing the CRTO’s Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) plan
Format and proofread copy produced by staff
Collaborating with all College departments to ensure consistent messaging

What makes you the Ideal Candidate?

University or college degree/diploma in marketing and communications or equivalent experience in the field
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a communications role. Experience in the regulatory and/or government sector would be an asset
Proven experience with social media, video, and mobile applications/implementations as well as a variety of digital media formats
Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe, Acrobat website design, and website tools (e.g. WordPress, HTML, CSS)
Proficiency in using social media monitoring tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Google Analytics, etc.)
Knowledge of communication best practices and how to increase engagement by optimizing various social media platforms
Knowledge of managing print and electronic communications, graphics design and maintenance
Outstanding verbal, written, interpersonal, analytical skills
Superior organizational skills with outstanding ability to attend to details and meet tight deadlines
Tact and diplomacy while interacting with members, volunteers, and other stakeholders
Thorough understanding of website design, content management, and best practices (e.g., Responsive Design, etc.)
