Located in south Edmonton, Tri-West Security Canada is one of Western Canada's leading providers of mobile surveillance systems, protecting construction, industrial, infrastructure, and energy projects throughout Alberta and British Columbia.
We're looking for an Equipment Technician to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building equipment, working with tools, solving problems, and spending time both in the shop and in the field.
You'll work with our Fleet Administrator to build, deploy, maintain, and retrieve our fleet of mobile surveillance systems. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, works well with others, and understands that reliable equipment is critical to our clients' operations.
What You'll Do
- Install, troubleshoot, inspect and maintain mobile surveillance systems.
- Assemble and build surveillance equipment and trailers in our shop.
- Deploy and retrieve surveillance towers throughout Western Canada.
- Drive a company pickup truck while towing trailers up to approximately 25 feet.
- Load, secure, and transport equipment safely.Ensure equipment is deployment-ready.
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and quality control inspections.
- Test equipment before and after deployments.
- Maintain inventory, tools, and an organized shop.
- Operate forklifts and other shop equipment (training provided if required).
- Occasionally travel for overnight deployments.
What We're Looking For
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable driving a full-size pickup truck while towing trailers.
- Experience towing trailers and securing loads.Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable lifting 50+ lbs and working outdoors year-round.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Takes ownership of their work and follows through without constant supervision.
- Reliable, dependable, and willing to help wherever needed.
Requirements
- Ability to work at heights in accordance with company safety procedures.
- Ability to safely drive long distances while towing trailers (up to 25 feet), including same-day trips of several hundred kilometers.
- Ability to back up trailers confidently and safely.
Preferred Experience
We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- Security system installation
- CCTV and IP camera systems
- Low-voltage wiring
- Access control
- Telecommunications
- Electrician or Apprentice Electrician
- Networking or structured cabling
- Trailer towing and equipment transportation
Experience with surveillance systems is an asset, but we're willing to train the right candidate with the right attitude and mechanical aptitude.
Additional Skills (Asset)
- Experience working safely on ladders and elevated work platforms.
- Experience mounting equipment on walls, buildings, poles, and other structures.
- Knowledge of selecting the correct drill bits, anchors, and fasteners for concrete, steel, wood, and masonry.
- Comfortable using a wide variety of hand tools and power tools.
- Basic knowledge of 12V electrical systems, batteries, solar systems, generators, and IP networking.
