We're looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technologist / Drafter & Designer who takes pride in producing accurate, well thought out designs and enjoys seeing their work move from concept to fabrication and construction. If you're someone who loves turning ideas into detailed, buildable solutions and can confidently work in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, we'd love to meet you.
You'll join a collaborative engineering team made up of Professional Engineers, Engineering Technologists, Project Managers, and Designers. You'll also work alongside one of our senior designers, who has set a very high standard for technical excellence. We're happy to teach you our products and systems, but we're looking for someone who already has a strong technical foundation and a passion for continuous improvement. This is an in-office position based in Edmonton.
At Innoflo, you'll work on projects that are technically challenging, highly collaborative, and make a real impact for our customers. We value curiosity, accountability, and people who enjoy solving problems as much as they enjoy creating great designs. If you're looking for a place where your technical skills will continue to grow alongside an experienced engineering team, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
As a Mechanical Engineering Technologist / Drafter & Designer, you will:
- Produce 2D layout drawings including site layouts, general arrangements, equipment layouts, building layouts, electrical panels, and related drawings.
- Develop Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for industrial process systems.
- Create detailed 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks and produce fabrication and construction drawings.
- Develop piping isometrics and spool drawings.
- Support engineering documentation including test procedures, QA/QC documentation, turnover packages, and technical manuals.
- Participate in project kickoffs, design reviews, and construction meetings as required.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and field personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage your own workload by estimating effort, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality work.
- Communicate project progress, design changes, and technical issues with project stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum three years of drafting and design experience in an industrial, mechanical, or process engineering environment.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD. Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D or AutoCAD P&ID would be considered an asset.
- Experience designing mechanical systems including piping, pumps, tanks, valves, motors, instrumentation, structural supports, weldments, and related industrial equipment.
- Working knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes such as ASME B31.3, the Canadian Electrical Code, and applicable Building Codes is considered an asset.
- CET designation (or eligibility) is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- A proactive mindset with the confidence to ask questions, solve problems, and continually improve designs.
