The Role
Reporting to the Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Supervisor supports the oversight and execution of the Quality Assurance program to ensure consistent compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent is backup SQF Practitioner. This role assists in maintaining SQF Food safety management system, in supervising QA operations, and reinforcing adherence to company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and health and safety guidelines across QA and Production teams.
Your Impact
- Supports the achievement of Quality Assurance operational objectives by assisting with the coordination, monitoring, and assignment of daily QA activities; identifying gaps or issues; participating in audits; supporting corrective actions; and providing feedback to the QA Supervisor, management, and stakeholders.
- Assists in ensuring sanitation programs, product safety, personal hygiene, and GMP compliance meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Works collaboratively with Purchasing to support the establishment and maintenance of quality requirements for external suppliers.
- Assists in ensuring compliance with internal standards and applicable government legislation related to food safety and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures quality tests and procedures are clearly understood, properly executed, and accurately evaluated; supports investigations into product deviations or modifications when required.
- Assists in conducting Food Safety and Quality Assessments and supports the disposition of products placed on hold.
- Supports decisions related to product acceptance and quality disposition, including continuation or stoppage of production until corrective actions are implemented, in accordance with established quality standards.
- Assists in responding to customer complaints by supporting root cause investigations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions under the direction of the QA Manager.
- Identifies quality-related training needs and assists in developing and implementing quality procedures in collaboration with operations and cross-functional teams.
- Reviews material and process defects, supports investigations into quality issues, and assists in implementing effective resolutions.
- Assists in monitoring quality performance by collecting, analyzing, and trending data; supports the preparation of statistical and performance reports.
- Prepares or contributes to technical, quality, and management system reports as required.
- Communicates effectively with internal teams, vendors, regulatory authorities, and inspectors.
- Provides leadership support by assisting in supervising QA technical staff performing quality tests and inspections and encouraging adherence to approved quality methods.
- Assists with customer audits and supports the timely execution of corrective actions in compliance with customer specifications.
- Member of label creating team. Prepares labels, installs them in online printers. Maintains them in soft and hard copies
- Assists in the development, review, and maintenance of SOPs, product specifications, and QC procedures.
- Promotes a safe work environment by following legislated and established safety procedures and practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with CCC GMP policies.
About You
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, preferably within the food manufacturing or food processing industry.
- Food industry background is required, with hands-on experience in food safety, GMPs, and quality systems.
- Solid working knowledge of GFSI food safety system (preferably SQF), quality assurance principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with production teams, management, customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated ability to support and guide QA teams while working collaboratively across departments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- University degree or College Diploma in Quality Assurance, Food Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
