Position Summary:

The position of Recreation Assistant will commit to incorporate our mission, vision, and our values, which are Compassion, Collaboration, Respect, Social Justice, Integrity and Stewardship, and uphold our ethical traditions as foundational aspects in all actions and decision-making.

Reporting to the Recreational Therapist the Recreation Assistant will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of recreation and leisure programs to meet the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual and cultural needs and interests of the residents. The Recreation Assistant works collaboratively with the healthcare team to promote resident awareness and participation in programs and opportunities and support recreation & leisure programming for the residents.

This position will:

Model the organizations' mission, vision, and values, consistently representing Covenant professionally and positively.
Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications:

Recreation Aide Certificate / Diploma required
Possess a valid Class 4 driver's license is required
Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, public and outside agencies
Flexibility with changes in the organization and maintain a positive outlook
Valid/current First Aid and CPR
One (1) to two (2) years of Therapeutic Recreation experience preferred
