Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join our team. This hands-on role involves welding and fabricating playground equipment and related metal components using aluminum, stainless steel, and ASTM A500 steel.
The successful candidate will read and interpret drawings, prepare materials, weld and inspect components, complete dry-fits for new products, and support production operations. This role also works closely with engineering, supervisors, and production staff to support fabrication accuracy, workflow, and new product development.
Experience in production supervision, team management, or team leadership is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Read blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts and fabrication procedures.
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on project requirements.
Set up and prepare components for welding, including cutting materials to required measurements.
Operate angle grinders, saws, clamps, calipers, rulers, and related shop tools.
Align, fit, clamp, and weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment.
Weld in various positions, including vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
Perform welding and fabrication work on playground equipment, structural frames, tubing, and related metal components.
Complete dry-fits, prototype fit-ups, and new product trials as required.
Work closely with engineering to support new product development, fabrication improvements, and product accuracy.
Coordinate with supervisors on priorities, production timelines, workflow, and quality expectations.
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws, defects, or quality concerns.
Repair machinery, equipment, or components by welding pieces and filling gaps, referring major repairs to the appropriate supervisor.
Maintain tools and equipment in a safe operating condition.
Support other departments and assist with production needs as required.
Provide guidance, leadership, or supervision to team members when needed.
Perform other related Welder / Fabricator duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Previous experience as a welder, fabricator, or similar role.
Experience welding and fabricating with aluminum, stainless steel, and ASTM A500 steel.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and fabrication specifications.
MIG/GMAW and TIG/GTAW welding experience preferred.
Knowledge of welding procedures, fabrication methods, equipment operation, and safety practices.
Experience with structural tubing, frames, playground equipment, or similar fabricated metal products is considered an asset.
Experience completing dry-fits, fit-ups, prototypes, or new product fabrication is considered an asset.
Ability to work closely with engineering teams, supervisors, and production staff.
Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect work for accuracy and quality.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Production supervisor, team management, or team leader experience is considered an asset.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
Preferred Welding Qualifications
CWB certification or CWB-qualified welding experience is strongly preferred.
Experience or training related to CSA W47.1 fusion welding of steel, including carbon steel and stainless steel.
Experience or training related to CSA W47.2 fusion welding of aluminum.
Relevant welding courses, training, or certifications related to aluminum welding, stainless steel welding, and steel fabrication.
MIG/GMAW, TIG/GTAW, Stick/SMAW, or FCAW welding training is considered an asset.
Blueprint reading for welders, welding theory, welding safety, or weld quality inspection training is considered an asset.
Ontario Welder 456A Apprenticeship training, Red Seal Welder certification, or equivalent welding trade training is considered an asset.

Work Environment
This position is hands-on and based in a production, welding, and fabrication environment. The role may require working both indoors and outdoors depending on production requirements, dry-fit activities, product testing, and project demands.
The successful candidate must be comfortable using welding equipment, hand tools, measuring tools, and shop equipment while following all safety requirements.
