Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation (DRNPHC)

Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation (DRNPHC) is a leading provider of safe, affordable rental housing across Durham Region. We manage approximately 1,200 units across 18 residential communities and are committed to building inclusive, sustainable communities while delivering high-quality housing services.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Finance, the General Accountant provides financial and accounting support to the Finance team, including month-end and year-end reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, payroll administration, accounts payable oversight, and financial analysis. This role contributes to the accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement of the Corporation’s financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including Board and year-end reporting.
Prepare bank reconciliations, journal entries, account analyses, and working papers.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare HST rebate claims, capital reserve analyses, and subsidy reporting.
Assist with annual operating and capital budget preparation.
Support payroll administration and provide oversight of accounts payable and receivable processes.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects.
Provide financial support and guidance to managers and staff across the organization.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
CPA designation completed or actively pursuing designation.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in financial reporting, general accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and accounting systems.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively while meeting deadlines.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional additional hours may be required during month-end and year-end reporting periods.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $60,000– $95,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
