Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and responsible School Bus Safety Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with special needs children and a background in the school bus industry. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safety and well-being of students during transit to and from school. This includes maintaining a secure environment on the school bus, assisting with student behavior, and working closely with drivers and school staff to address any safety concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure the safety and security of students while on the school bus.
Assist students with special needs as necessary, providing support and ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
Monitor student behavior and enforce safety protocols on the bus.
Work closely with school bus drivers to ensure smooth operations and prompt handling of any incidents or emergencies.
Assist students in safely boarding and disembarking from the bus.
Maintain clear and professional communication with school staff, parents, and transportation teams.
Respond to emergencies in a calm and effective manner, providing immediate support as needed.
Conduct routine safety checks of the bus to ensure it is in good working condition.
Report any safety hazards, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate authorities or management.

Qualifications:

Previous experience working with special needs children is preferred.
Experience in the school bus industry is a plus.
Must have or be willing to obtain a Class B driver’s license with a school bus endorsement.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and focused in emergency situations.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in student transportation.
A compassionate and patient approach to working with children, especially those with special needs.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
