Job Type: Part Time Hourly (guaranteed 20 hours per week) Nights, Day/Evening

About Our House Supportive Recovery Centre: Home to three distinct programs serving specifically: Women in Crisis, individuals living with persistent mental health and addiction experiences, and people seeking safe haven while in pre and post-in-patient substance abuse treatment. All three programs have their own distinct space, but operate in synch to create a community where people gain a sense of belonging and purpose. The Our House Intensive Program (OHIP) is a new program that will provide 24-hour staff support on-site in a single-room style residence for up to 6 individuals living with mental health disorders. The goal of the program is to be a transition step to less intensive services that exist in the community. The program is geared toward individuals in an inpatient facility who are ready to transition into the community but still require a high degree of support. The program may also be used as an alternative to hospitalization for individuals living in the community, who are struggling with maintaining their psychiatric stability.

Qualifications:

Education requirements include a Practical Nursing Diploma;
Licensed with the Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses;
Must work effectively as a team member and model a proactive approach, flexibility, tolerance, perseverance, and competence in counseling, assessment, and crisis management situations;
Excellent writing and verbal skills are required;
Must possess a valid driver's license;
Understanding and awareness of First Nations culture;
Must pass YWCA Security Clearance (includes VSC);

Remuneration: $37.00 to $42.00/an hour - depending on experience.

Duties:

Provide on-call responsibilities as may be required;
Provide recovery-oriented services as per caseload duties and responsibilities including assistance with skills of daily living; medication management; residents with cigarette plans, transportation; social, leisure, and recreational activities; crisis intervention; and other direct client services;
Assure appropriate records are completed and maintained such as contact notes, incident reports, statistics, and other reporting requirements;
Attend shift change, staff meetings, and planning meetings as required;
Participate in staff training including in-service presentations, First Aid/CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, ASIST, Reality Therapy/Choice Theory Certification, MH First Aid, and Psychosocial Rehabilitation Certification and other training that may be required;
Keep current on relevant literature and research; attend conferences, training, and other educational opportunities to keep current regarding changes in the field, best practice, and evidence-based practice;
Be willing and able to perform First Aid/CPR;
Have knowledge of Mental Health First Aid and provide appropriate, professional responses to residents disclosing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, hallucinations, delusions, or other symptoms;
At all times work towards the achievement of YWCA Prince Albert's Vision and Mission Statements;

Probation: All YWCA Prince Albert non-management positions contain a three-month probation period.
