Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Building Maintenance (Maintenance Mechanic II), who is responsible for maintaining machinery, mechanical equipment, and the structure of the buildings and properties in good repair.
What You Will Do
- Repairing or replacing defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment continues to run smoothly, and the physical conditions of the buildings do not deteriorate.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools to electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them.
- Record maintenance and repair work performed for the preventative maintenance program.
- Order and maintain an inventory of building equipment parts and supplies as required.
- Paint and repair windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall and other parts of building structures.
- Operate welding equipment as necessary.
- Clean, maintain and repair specialized equipment and machinery.
- Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures as required.
- Carrying out on and off-site deliveries of supplies, equipment, furniture, appliances etc.
- Unplugging and/or replacing blocked toilets, sinks, baths, sewers, etc.
- Assisting in furniture repairs including upholstery, welding, soldering
- Maintenance of indoor pool, chemical balance and adjustments, etc.
- Troubleshooting problems on Mag lock and fire panel systems.
- Maintaining vehicles and equipment in good working order by changing oil, greasing equipment, cleaning vehicles.
- Assisting in seasonal grounds maintenance such as snow removal, clearing roof troughs, removing items from one area of the grounds to another.
- Ensures adherence to CWSDS’s policies and procedures.
- All work must be carried out in a safe manner and in compliance with OHSA, ensuring the environment is safe and free of hazards.
- Completing rounds and security checks, supporting emergency situations and fire alarm announces.
- Manage rentals by being available to answer questions and locking up afterwards.
- Works shifts in accordance with the schedule.
- Other duties as assigned
What Skills and Qualifications Do You Bring:
- Facilities Technician Diploma or currently registered as a Facilities Technician Apprentice; or Certificate of qualification in a recognized trade by the Ontario College of Trades. Cross functional skills trade experience would be an asset.
- Minimum 3 years directly related experience in building maintenance and repairs preferably in a long-term care environment.
- Demonstrated ability in the use of hand and power equipment.
- Ability to read blue prints and interpret work plans, drawings, diagrams.
- Ability to operate snow blower, weed eater, riding mower, trimmer and chain saw and maintain equipment.
- Knowledge of gas pilot systems.
- Ability to operate and maintain carpentry equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Able to communicate verbally and understand instructions.
- Proven communication, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve and complete assignments on time.
- Customer service orientation and ability to work as an effective team member.
- Dependable, flexible and an ability to work flexible hours.
- Caring approach to individuals supported.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive CWSDS’s vehicles.
