About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, organized, and caring Childcare Cook to join our team.
This role is more than just preparing meals — you are part of the children’s daily experience and contribute to creating a safe and positive environment.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys structured routines, takes pride in cleanliness and organization, and likes working in a childcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
Meal Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks
- Ensure meals meet allergy, dietary, and cultural requirements
- Portion and deliver meals to classrooms as needed
Kitchen Operations & Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen at all times
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
- Track inventory and coordinate food orders and supplies
- Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained and safe
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow Alberta Health and food safety standards at all times
- Maintain cleaning logs and food safety records
- Ensure compliance with childcare licensing requirements
Team Support
- Communicate effectively with educators regarding children’s dietary needs
- Maintain a respectful, positive, and team-oriented approach
- May provide limited support to educators during meal times or transitions, as needed
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in food service, catering, or high-volume kitchen environments
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Reliable, punctual, calm, and able to follow routines independently
- Takes pride in food preparation, presentation, and cleanliness
- Able to follow checklists, routines, and food safety procedures consistently
- Comfortable working in a childcare environment around young children
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset
Requirements
- Valid Food Safety / Food Handler Certificate (required)
- Police Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check (required)
- Minimum 1 year of kitchen or food service experience
- Experience cooking for groups (asset)
- CPR/First Aid Certification (asset)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Daytime hours (morning to early afternoon)
- No evenings or weekends
- Approximately 35–40 hours per week
