Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator – Frac Sand Division
Natural Resource Recovery Group Inc. (NRG) is seeking a highly organized and customer-focused Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator to join our growing Western Canadian Frac Sand Division.
This position is responsible for coordinating the daily movement of frac sand throughout Alberta and British Columbia, ensuring our drivers, lease operators, customers, and field operations remain connected through efficient planning and communication. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maximizing equipment utilization, supporting safe operations, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, 24/7 transportation environment.
Working closely with Operations, Safety, Drivers, Lease Operators, and our customers, the Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator will ensure freight is moved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with all customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the daily dispatch of company drivers and lease operators across Western Canada.
- Schedule and monitor frac sand deliveries to drilling and completion sites while meeting customer expectations and delivery windows.
- Optimize truck utilization, routing, and scheduling to maximize operational efficiency and minimize empty kilometres.
- Maintain continuous communication with drivers, customers, loaders, unloaders, and field personnel regarding shipment status, delays, weather conditions, and operational changes.
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), GPS tracking, and other dispatch software to monitor fleet activity and provide real-time updates.
- Coordinate load assignments, equipment availability, trailer utilization, and driver scheduling.
- Ensure all dispatch documentation, Bills of Lading, trip records, and customer paperwork are complete and accurate.
- Monitor Hours of Service (HOS), ELD compliance, and driver availability to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Work collaboratively with Safety and Maintenance to coordinate equipment repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance schedules.
- Assist with customer service inquiries, order management, and problem resolution while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Identify opportunities to improve fleet productivity, reduce operating costs, and enhance customer service.
- Participate in after-hours or rotational on-call scheduling as operational requirements dictate.
Qualifications
- Previous dispatch or logistics coordination experience within the transportation industry.
- Experience in oilfield transportation, bulk commodity hauling, or frac sand logistics is considered a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of Western Canadian highway networks and oilfield operations.
- Experience using transportation management systems (TMS), GPS fleet management software, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Samsara or similar fleet management platforms is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of commercial transportation regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and National Safety Code (NSC) requirements.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
