The Ontario School Boards’ Insurance Exchange (OSBIE) is a non-profit insurance company providing commercial lines of insurance to the school boards of Ontario. POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail oriented and highly motivated Accounting Associate to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Associate will provide support for day-to-day accounting operations. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals who are looking to gain hands on experience in general accounting, day-to-day financial operations and financial reporting. This position will support the Finance team with maintaining accurate financial records and compliance with the IFRS accounting standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, payment runs and vendor account management
Perform bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis
Assist in the preparation of recurring journal entries
Assist with month end and year end closing activities
Assist with claims related tasks that impact financial reporting
Perform data entry and routine accounting tasks on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
Assist in preparing financial statements and management reports
Support the external audit by helping provide the necessary documents as requested
Provide support to Assistant Controller with other tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Currently enrolled in the CPA program
A minimum of one year of relevant experience in accounting or finance
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail and organization skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Team oriented and willingness to learn and take initiative
High level of integrity and confidentiality
