We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Controller in the greater Winnipeg area to oversee the financial operations and provide accounting support across our organizations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, comfortable working independently, and experienced in managing the financial needs of both for-profit and non-profit entities. While some in-person work will be required, this is primarily a remote job.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process invoices, payments, deposits, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare and issue T4s and other year-end reporting documents
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
- Maintain accurate accounting records and general ledgers
- Support annual audits and work with external accountants as required
- Monitor and track grant funding and charitable reporting requirements
- Ensure compliance with applicable CRA and regulatory requirements
- Assist with payroll administration and related remittances
- Support financial planning and internal controls
- Perform other accounting, administrative, and financial duties as assigned
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping and/or accounting experience
- Experience managing full-cycle bookkeeping
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with budgeting and financial analysis
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks experience preferred)
- Experience working with non-profit organizations is considered a strong asset
- Ability to manage multiple entities and competing priorities
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset but not required
