We are looking for a Payroll and Benefits Coordinator to join Radiant and be part of our dynamic team. This posting is for an existing vacant position within the organization
Work in the office at 1280 Courtneypark Drive E, Mississauga every Monday Wednesday and Thursday. Work from home Tuesday and Fridays.
What You’ll Do:
Payroll and Reporting
- Process hourly and salaried payroll with ADP.
- Set up and maintain information in the payroll / HR system i.e. new hires, status changes, terminations, earnings and deductions, etc.
- Audit time off and attendance to ensure policy guidelines are followed.
- Audit timecards and follow up with timecard supervisors on any exceptions.
- Create, maintain and update the payroll / HR system i.e. codes, fields, pay groups, etc. Work with the payroll provider to set up new programming as required.
- Troubleshoot any payroll / HR system issues. Escalate as required.
- Work with the payroll provider and Finance to ensure remittances are completed as required i.e. CRA, WSIB, EHT, WorkSafe BC, WCB Alberta, WCB Nova Scotia, etc.
- Calculate worker compensation premiums for each province. Confirm submission with the payroll provider.
- Create and reconcile the bi-weekly payroll journal entries for Finance.
- Communicate payroll information and notices to employees.
- Respond to employee inquiries.
- Provide training and guidance to managers and employees on the payroll / HR system.
- Create, modify, and send reports.
- Create annual budget templates for salaries, benefits and headcount.
- Complete year-end duties, e.g., reconciliations, T4’s, payroll schedules, audits, etc.
- Act as the lead for payroll audits and provide requested information.
Benefits
- Administer benefits plans and programs including health and dental, RRSP, EAP and other programs that may be added / modified.
- Process enrolments, terminations and employee changes.
- Respond to employee inquiries.
- Communicate benefits information and notices to employees.
- Promote benefit programs to increase utilization and voluntary enrolments.
- Reconcile invoices to ensure changes are updated accurately. Allocate costs.
- Create and maintain reports to ensure accurate tracking and submission of information.
Other Duties
- Manage, monitor and follow up on work permits. Advise issues to the HR team.
- Conduct / Assist with the recruitment and selection process e.g. post jobs, conduct phone screens, schedule interviews, complete reference and criminal background checks..
- Assist with new hire onboarding.
- Write employment and reference letters.
- Support HR projects and initiatives.
- Other duties and assignments as required.
What You Bring to the Role:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience processing payroll and administering benefits.
- Certification in / working towards designation as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or CHRL are assets.
- Knowledge and understanding of HR and payroll laws and regulations (Ontario, BC, Alberta).
- Knowledge of Workers Compensation is an asset.
- Intermediate computer skills required in Excel i.e. formulas, pivot tables, v-look ups.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems. ADP Workforce Now is a definite asset.
- Analytical, detail-oriented and accurate.
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
