HOURS OF WORK:
The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
The Lead Hand – Instrumentation and Controls will lead the Instrumentation and Controls Team, including preventive maintenance work orders; provide technical guidance to Instrumentation and Controls staff; organize and run team; source and prepare requisitions for components and systems; organize the scope of work of external contractors; and, carry out inspections, maintenance and repairs to Instrumentation and Controls infrastructure and non-biomedical hospital equipment.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

Certificate of Qualification in a journeyperson class as an Instrumentation and Control Technician 447A as regulated by the Ontario College of Trades; or,
-
Certification by Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists in a field related to distributed control systems; or,
-
Post-secondary education combined with a minimum of 10-years’ hands-on experience supporting access control, video surveillance and distributed control systems.

Preference will be given to a candidate with a certificate of completion for CSA Fundamentals of Infection Control during the Construction, Renovation and Maintenance of Health Care Facilities and Effective Implementation and Practical Applications of CSA Z317.13.

WHO YOU ARE:
-
Demonstrated ability to maintain a good attendance record and meet the performance standards of the Health Centre.
-
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
-
Capable of providing superior customer service when responding to routine, urgent and emergency work orders.
-
Capable of working independently while prioritizing a wide variety of preventative maintenance and demand-call tasks in a fast-pace and dynamic environment.

Experience and willingness to work with outside contractors and vendors. At times, act as the health centre’s point-of-contact with external contractors to ensure work is completed accurately, and that external workers conform to the health centre’s safety expectations.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and operating manuals.

Capable of reviewing and interpreting portions of the Ontario Building Code that apply to assigned work orders.

Ability to apply knowledge of WHMIS and OHSA in the work place.

Experience using both small and large tools to complete assigned tasks.

Fundamental computer skills, including internet browsing and searching, ability of sending, retrieving and responding to e-mail messages and accept meeting invites in Microsoft Outlook.
