We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join our operations team in the morning shift. This role is ideal for a skilled, detail-oriented machinist who enjoys hands-on work, precision manufacturing, and contributing to a high-quality production environment.
Position Summary
The CNC Machinist will be responsible for setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machines to manufacture parts that meet customer, engineering, and quality requirements. The successful candidate will be comfortable working from blueprints, using precision measuring instruments, adjusting machine settings, and supporting continuous improvement within the machine shop.
This position also requires a team-oriented individual who can communicate effectively, work safely, and mentor junior machine operators when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machines.
- Review work orders, interpret blueprints, and select appropriate tooling for the job.
- Read and interpret CNC programs.
- Verify product dimensions for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Adjust speeds, feeds, and tool paths on CNC machine tools when required.
- Verify the accuracy of machine setups completed by co-workers on previous shifts.
- Identify and report deviations from specifications or tolerances to Quality Assurance for disposition.
- Maintain daily logbooks and complete required work order documentation in accordance with quality management system requirements.
- Maintain the work area according to continuous improvement guidelines.
- Monitor equipment using maintenance sheets, operator checklists, and equipment specifications.
- Support safe work practices and follow company Safe Work Procedures.
- Train or mentor junior machine operators as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machines.
- High school diploma required.
- Technical or academic machine shop training from a recognized institution is preferred.
- Experience setting up and using precision measuring instruments.
- Experience reading and interpreting CNC programs.
- Intermediate blueprint reading, drawing interpretation, and GD&T comprehension skills.
- Familiarity with general machine shop practices, tools, and equipment.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to adapt to new technology and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to train and support junior machine operators.
- Certificate in overhead crane operation, or willingness and ability to be trained.
- Experience operating multi-axis machines is considered an asset.
- A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the above qualifications.

Additional Employment Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must currently reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or be able to reliably commute to Dimatec’s Winnipeg facility.
