Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Bookkeeper / Junior Accountant to join our tax and accounting office. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in building a career in bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, and tax preparation.

Experience in a tax office is an asset, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who is reliable, eager to learn, and has a basic understanding of accounting principles.

In this role, you will assist with bookkeeping for multiple clients, bank reconciliations, payroll support, HST filings, financial reports, and general tax office tasks. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with numbers, documents, deadlines, and client information in a professional office environment.

Responsibilities

Assist with day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple clients
Record and organize invoices, receipts, bank transactions, credit card transactions, and other financial documents
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable entries
Help prepare bookkeeping summaries, financial reports, and working papers
Assist with payroll processing and payroll-related documentation
Support the preparation of GST/HST returns
Organize client records and follow up for missing information when needed
Communicate professionally with clients and team members
Assist accountants with personal tax, corporate tax, and CRA-related tasks
Maintain accurate and confidential client records
Learn and use accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other office programs
Perform other administrative and accounting tasks as required

Experience & Qualifications

Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience is an asset, but not required
Education or coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, business, or finance is an asset
Basic understanding of accounting principles is preferred
Familiarity with QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar accounting software is an asset
Experience with payroll, HST, or tax preparation is an asset, but training can be provided
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Good organizational and time-management skills
Comfortable working with numbers, documents, and deadlines
Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when needed
Professional attitude and strong communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
