Hockey Specialist – Full-Time & Part-Time Positions Available

We are currently hiring one full-time Hockey Specialist and two part-time Hockey Specialists to join our growing team.
Our store specializes in hockey and figure skating equipment, and this is an excellent opportunity to develop both retail and technical skills in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
Please Note: These are not summer, seasonal, or temporary positions. We are looking for individuals who are interested in becoming long-term members of our team. While we are hiring for both full-time and part-time roles, successful applicants should be available to work throughout the 2026–27 hockey season, with opportunities for continued long-term employment.
Full-Time Position
We're looking for a mature, energetic individual with strong communication skills who is passionate about hockey and skating. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about current hockey skates, sticks, protective equipment, and accessories, and is interested in building a long-term career in the industry.
This position offers the opportunity to develop a broad range of technical and sales skills and has the potential to grow into a partial management role for the right individual.
Part-Time Positions
We are also seeking two part-time team members to work approximately 18–30 hours per week, beginning immediately and continuing throughout the 2026–27 hockey season, with the possibility of long-term employment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A genuine passion for hockey and skating.
- Experience playing hockey or being an active ice skater.
- Knowledge of current hockey skates, sticks, equipment, and accessories.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- The ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills; experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using basic hand tools.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Skate sharpening and maintaining skate sharpening equipment.
- Operating the point-of-sale system and cash register.
- Receiving, pricing, and stocking new inventory.
- Performing basic skate repairs, riveting, and skate blade mounting.
- Fitting and customizing hockey and figure skates.
- Assisting customers with proper fitting of hockey equipment and sticks.
- Using basic tools to fit and assemble helmets and facial protection.
- Learning and performing figure skate blade mounting procedures.
- Answering customer inquiries by phone and email.
- Scheduling customer appointments.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and well-merchandised sales floor.
- Assisting with general day-to-day store operations.
Availability
Team Members are expected to have flexible availability, including weekdays and Saturdays.
Typical store hours are:
- Monday–Friday: Approximately 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (occasional earlier starts or later finishes may be required).
- Saturday: Approximately 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (occasional schedule adjustments may be required).
