WHAT THE ROLE IS ALL ABOUT!

Reporting to the General Foreman or Superintendent, the Foreman, Heavy Civil Contracting is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an assigned crew, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of tasks on-site. This role requires experience in large-scale Heavy Civil and/or Mining Operations, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and logistics associated with these complex projects. This role will be based in Northern Ontario and/or Northern Manitoba. This is a field-based rotational position with camp accommodations and paid flights provided.

ESSENTIAL CONTRIBUTIONS WE NEED FROM YOU!

Maintain daily communication with the Site Superintendent and General Foreman to provide project updates and address any issues.
Plan, schedule, and delegate tasks according to project needs, priorities, and deadlines.
Supervise, lead, and mentor the crew, fostering a productive and safe work environment.
Lead by example while adhering to Sigfusson Northern's policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Ensure the quality of work performed by the crew aligns with project specifications and industry standards.
Perform regular hazard assessments and immediately communicate identified risks to the crew to mitigate safety concerns.
Review and sign Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA) cards submitted by the crew, ensuring all issues are addressed.
Complete and submit crew proficiency forms as required, ensuring all training and competencies are documented.
Manage client relations as needed, ensuring clear communication and addressing any client concerns promptly.
Review and approve daily timecards for accuracy, ensuring proper tracking of work hours and project labor costs.
Continuously assess the site environment and promptly communicate any concerns or recommendations for improvement.

THIS IS WHAT WILL MAKE YOU A POSITIVE IMPACT!

Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a Foreman or senior field leadership role in the construction industry, with a strong focus on heavy civil projects.
Experience leading crews on heavy civil construction projects will be considered a strong asset.
Strong understanding of construction processes, means, and methods is required.
Experience in the mining and road construction fields will be considered an asset.
Strong working knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, and quality standards in heavy civil construction is required.
Ability to manage daily field activities, resources, and priorities across assigned work fronts is required.
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to support project execution in alignment with Superintendent direction and overall project goals.
Leads by example and promotes a strong safety and productivity culture on site.
Ability to build strong working relationships with crew members, subcontractors, and site leadership.
Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and motivate field crews in a respectful and effective manner.
Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback and address on-site issues or conflicts in a professional manner.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines.
Must be able to maintain a strong focus on safety at all times and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
Must be able to present a clear security clearance check and pass an alcohol & drug test prior to commencing employment and if required, throughout employment.
A valid driver’s license is required.
